A "Slicker" Experience
Mike was an early adopter of WeWALK technology, having upgraded from the original Smart Cane 1. For him, WeWALK Smart Cane 2 represents a “big improvement” over its predecessor. One of the most significant changes he noted was the move from gestures to physical buttons. Mike shared:
“I did find the button feature on the two lot more straightforward to negotiate than gestures”.
He also highlighted the improved “weather durability” as a key upgrade for his outdoor travels.
The King of Public Transport
While Mike has used traditional canes all his life, Smart Cane 2 has added a new layer of comfort to his journeys.
“The probably the most valuable feature of the cane has been the bus stop alerts when traveling on a bus,” Mike explained.
He relies on the device for “route navigation and alerting me to oncoming buses, bus numbers that are due and where to alight”. He says it has “just made life a bit more relaxing, slick, and comfortable.”
Both You and Your Phone is Safe
One of the valuable insights Mike shared was how the cane increases his sense of security in public. By using the cane’s audio and controls, he can keep his smartphone safely tucked away.
“The thing I like about it is being able to keep my phone concealed,” Mike noted, adding, “I’m not obliged to have my phone out, visible to anybody who might have intentions of stealing it. So, it increases my independence, it makes me feel secure.”
Dynamically Improving with Evolving Technology
