A New Era for the WeWALK Smart Cane 2: Smoother, More Stable, More Reliable

The new update that takes the WeWALK Smart Cane 2 experience to the next level is live! So what does this update have in store for you?

📱 Smart Cane 2 Connection Is Now Much More Stable

The Bluetooth connection between your cane and your phone is now much more stable and reliable. You only need to pair your Smart Cane with your phone once.

For the first connection:

  1. Turn on your WeWALK Smart Cane 2 by pressing and holding the square button.
  2. Open your phone’s Bluetooth settings.
  3. Select WeWALK under Other Devices.
  4. Confirm the pairing request.
  5. Open the WeWALK app.
  6. Confirm the pairing request within the app as well.

That’s it! From then on, your cane will automatically connect to the WeWALK app every time you turn it on, offering a much smoother user experience.

✨ Personalize Your Smart Cane Through the App!

With this update, the WeWALK app has become a much more comprehensive control center where you can manage your Smart Cane 2’s settings. You can easily manage many settings from the Device Preferences section of the WeWALK app.

🚶 Customize Obstacle Detection Preferences to Suit Your Needs

You can now tailor obstacle detection feedback to your usage habits.

From the Obstacle Detection Preferences section, you can:

  • Turn audio alerts on or off,
  • Manage vibration feedback,
  • Use sound and vibration together,
  • Enable the continuous vibration feature,
  • Have the flashlight turn on automatically when an obstacle is detected.

🔊 More Options in Language & Audio Settings

You can now also customize your cane’s audio experience to suit yourself.

From the Language & Audio Preferences section, you can:

  • Change your cane’s language,
  • Choose between different voice options,
  • Adjust the volume,
  • Increase or decrease the speech rate.

Note: When updating language and voice settings, make sure both your phone and your WeWALK Smart Cane 2 have at least 30% battery.

🔦 Control the Flashlight Through the App Too

You can now turn your cane’s flashlight on or off through the app. You can also set the flashlight to turn on automatically when an obstacle is detected, giving you a safer experience especially in low-light environments.

📍 Let Your Cane Call Out to You If You Lose It!

Forgot where you left your caneThanks to the Find My Cane feature in the WeWALK appyou can have your cane emit a sound to help you locate it. 

🧭 One-Tap Compass Calibration Through the App

You can now calibrate your Smart Cane 2’s compass directly through the WeWALK app. You can easily start calibration from the Compass Calibration section under the Smart Cane tab and optimize your navigation performance in just a few steps.

How to Update Your Cane

To check whether your cane is up to date:

  1. Connect your WeWALK Smart Cane 2 to the app.
  2. Tap Check for Updates in the Smart Cane tab.
  3. Use the Check Version option to see if a new update is available.
  4. If a new version is available, start the update.

Note: Both your phone and your cane must have at least 30% battery during the update.

As our cane evolves, we continue to develop our apps as well. We’ve made experience improvements for people with low vision in the WeWALK app. We’ve also made performance improvements to the Smart Cane and the WeASSIST experience.
