Bringing "Science Fiction" to Life
For Yassin, introducing the Smart Cane 2 to his local community in Spain felt like stepping out with technology from the future.
“When I was talking about it, it was like science fiction, you know, you have a WeWALK as a smart cane,” Yassin recalls.
It wasn’t long before his device caught the attention of friends and passersby across Spain. “There are a lot of people who asked me to see it, to touch it, to click, to press, to test how it works,” he explains. “And so many people bought it because they saw it with me”.
A "Magic Device" for Navigating Crowds
Beyond standard navigation and obstacle detection, Yassin has discovered creative, practical ways to use Smart Cane 2 in busy public spaces, describing it as a “magic device”.
When navigating crowded train stations where travelers often wait on stairs or choke points, he sweeps the cane’s sensor or moves his hand near it to trigger the obstacle detection tone. Hearing the sound alert, people naturally step aside to clear a path.
He uses the same creative approach in tight queues and crowded places as well.
“When I go, for example, in between a lot of people, I use it turning the sensor side by side, and it starts to sound, and people can go to the other side to let you go,” Yassin says. “When people hear that… they give me a pass”.
Sparking Conversations & Making Friends
Navigating at night has become an unexpected highlight for Yassin. By turning on the cane’s built-in flashlight while walking, he instantly catches the eye of curious onlookers.
“When I walk with it at night, I turn the flash on and start walking, and a lot of people say, ‘Wow, it has like a magic cane!'” Yassin shares. “A lot of people start to ask me… ‘Where did you buy it? How much does it cost? What can it do for you?’ It also makes you more social, you know?”
Whether at airport terminals or bustling train stations, WeWALK Smart Cane 2 serves as a natural conversation starter, helping him connect with people wherever he travels.
Believing in the Product
Having watched the device mature over years, Yassin is excited about how far smart assistive technology has come.
“I use the technology, so everything that I can use to improve my life and the life of other persons, I do it,” Yassin reflects. “I have followed you since like seven, eight years ago… I believe in the product. The quality has improved.”
